At the beginning of 2010, the Jurislingue project provided an internship to a translator who helped develop the dictionary in the fields of French and English, as well as revise the language of the definitions drawn up this year.

Still in this vein, the decision to take on interns from the language courses of Faculdade Ciências Humanas da Universidade Católica (Faculty of Human Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University) was a success. This year, the intern who spent two months in the Núcleo de Traduções de Convenções Internacionais/Departamento de Assuntos Jurídicos (International Convention Translation Unit/Department of Legal Affairs) contributed towards: the creation of the Jurislingue web page in German; the creation and provision of an online virtual guide; the development of the dictionary’s Terminology section in German; and the translation into German and English of a certain number of terms relating to the Hague Conference on Private International Law.

During the year we also published a small book on the project, sponsored by the Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras (Aliens and Borders Service). The book was welcomed by several services which, while not members of the project, showed interest in it and now wish to contribute to its development. Jurislingue now has the support of the Translation Service of the Belgian Foreign Affairs Ministry and of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, among others.

It is also important to highlight the invitation to join the Simplegis project, set up by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, thereby helping to create a legal glossary. This is yet one more tool we hope will help reach the goal of providing citizens with clearer and easier to understand information about the laws which govern us.
